ART

Tuition for art classes includes all supplies.

ART APPRECIATION – In-person (Ages 4-6)

This class is a perfect introduction for the young artist. Storytelling is combined with expression through art. Reference will be made to famous artists throughout history to assist in learning. Students will learn art basics including understanding of shapes and color and how to incorporate lessons into their creations. Various mediums will be used including pastels, paint and collaging. Maximum 6 students per class.

DRAWING & PAINTING – In-person (Ages 7-16)

A focus on drawing and painting from observation and imagination using pencil, charcoal, pastels and paint. Form, color, composition and perspective will be emphasized through stimulating and innovative projects. Advanced students should have the ability to develop projects over a 2-3 week period. Maximum 6-8 students per class.

COMICS, CARTOONING & ANIMATION – In-person (Ages 7-16)

BEGINNER / INTERMEDIATE (Ages 7-10)

Ages 7-10. Comic books, Superheroes, Bitmojis, Anime, Digital Animation…learn cartooning, character design, storytelling, stop-motion animation and more in this popular IN-PERSON class. Maximum 6 students per class.

ADVANCED (Ages 8-16)

Pre-requisite: At least two semesters in Cartooning and basic computer knowledge.
Students may bring their own laptop or tablet to class.

This course offers traditional and contemporary forms of making cartoons. Children who are interested in basic cartooning techniques such as character design, comic strips and storytelling will learn drawing techniques in a hands-on environment. Students will learn stop-motion animation, using digital programs that are accessible through apps and other online resources. Maximum 6 students per class.

DANCE

All dance classes will perform in our Festival of the Arts Dance Recital on May 23, 2021 (dress rehearsal May 2, 2021); tuition includes costume fees.

MUSIC

PAINLESS PIANO – In-person and Virtual (Ages 4-8)

Lessons for young children are designed specifically to make the process of learning piano easy and fun; the perfect introduction to music for young children. Concepts introduced include rhythm, movement, reading, music notation and more! Students will learn to play a variety of popular and classical pieces and are encouraged to improvise. Maximum 4 students per class.

FUTURE IDOL – In-person and Virtual (Ages 10+)

Formerly known as Vocal Expressions.

This class is designed for those dreaming of a professional singing career.  Students will learn the art of performing songs in various styles such as rock, R&B, folk and country. The instructor will help a young artist’s confidence in his/her ability to perform while reinforcing proper vocal technique.  Private voice lessons may be taken with this class. MUSICAL THEATRE

BROADWAY BOUND JUNIOR: CHILDREN’S THEATRE – In-person and Virtual (Ages 6-8)

This class will teach elementary acting, singing, and dancing. Create your own renditions of musical hits while gaining confidence and presentation skills. An edited video will be available to view and share with family and friends. Maximum 8 students per class. Virtual option available; email ellen@goldcoastarts.org to opt-in.

BROADWAY BOUND: CHILDREN’S THEATRE – In-person and Virtual (Ages 9-16)

Dance and sing along to popular Broadway hits in a creative environment. This class will teach elementary acting, singing, and dancing. Our performance for the semester will be Broadway revue style. After the video is edited and available to view, there will be a watch party to celebrate their performance. Maximum 8 students per class. CHESS

CHESS MATES: INTRO TO CHESS FOR TWO – Virtual

Grab a partner (in your household) and learn the basics of chess, with live instruction by nationally ranked chess expert Jack Niculescu, ranked in the top 3% of all US chess players. This interactive ONLINE class covers an introduction to the game, including rules and strategies. A great way for parents and children, siblings or partners to learn the game everyone is talking about.

No previous knowledge of chess required, just a strong desire to learn. Maximum 8 teams per class. Each team must have 2 people in the same household and include at least one teen or adult member.

KNIGHTCLUB – Virtual (Experienced players ages 7-18)

An invitation to all Kings & Queens! Join our Knightclub and show off your moves! A complete understanding of chess rules required.

This class will consist of a 30-minute talk which includes a focused lesson and relevant puzzles. Students will interact with the instructor while playing with other students on an online platform. All facets and phases of the game will be covered. Maximum 8 students per class.

ROBOTICS

ROBOTICS- BEGINNER – Virtual (Ages 7+)

Introduction to Robotics and Programming (Beginner)

No robotics experience necessary. In this virtual robotics course, students will learn the fundamentals of robotics with a focus on how to program a virtual robot through a series of guided challenges. From a programming perspective, students learn programming logic and flowcharts and then implement the code using Scratch-based or Python-programming. Maximum 10 students per class.

ROBOTICS- ADVANCED – Virtual (Ages 7+)

The Physics of Robotics (Intermediate/Advanced)

In this virtual robotics course, students will learn the physics of robot mechanisms and how to use a decision matrix to evaluate the best possible solution for an engineering problem. They shall design their concepts with CAD software. Following completion of the CAD model, students shall learn how to simulate the mechanism in an online robot simulation tool. Students will need to complete the “Introduction to Robotics” course or its equivalent to be eligible for this course. Our goal is to have these students on track to qualify for participation in upcoming robotics competitions. Maximum 10 students per class.
