HIT THE ROAD

2021 | Panah Panahi I Narrative I Iran I 93 min I Persian (English subtitles) I $12 Member, $15 Non-Member (All sales are final)

Official Selection: Cannes Film Festival and New York Film Festival

An endearing yet frenzied family of four is on a mysterious road trip across the Iranian country-side to an unknown destination. An overprotective mother, a nonchalant father, an anxious older brother and a scene-stealing, rambunctious younger brother pack themselves and their sickly dog into an SUV as they traverse an expansive Iranian landscape. Over the course of the trip, the family bonds over memories of the past, grapple with fears of the unknown, and fuss over their dog. Unspoken tensions arise and the film builds emotional momentum as it slowly reveals the furtive purpose for their unforgettable journey.

This feature film debut from the son of acclaimed, embattled Iranian master filmmaker Jafar Panahi, is brimming with charismatic performances and a darkly humorous family dynamic.
