ART APPRECIATION – (Ages 4-6)

It’s time for your little one to make art! This class is the perfect introduction for the young artist.  Children explore their own creativity while learning about famous artists throughout history.  Students are taught art basics such as understanding shapes and color as they incorporate lessons learned into their creations. The class uses various mediums to create their works including pastels, paint and collage. Let’s get creative!

DRAWING & PAINTING – Introduction – Advanced (Ages 6+)

Ages 6+ (or instructor permission). Bring your imagination to life! This class focuses on drawing and painting by observing the world around us and, more importantly, using our imaginations. Students use pencil, charcoal, pastels, and paint to create their works of art. Form, color, composition, and perspective are emphasized through stimulating and innovative projects. Advanced students have the ability to develop and complete projects over a 2-3 week period and be able to create conceptual art with guidance from teachers.

CARTOONING – Ages 7-16 (All Levels)

Time to get “tooning!” Join us in learning the ways of the movie and program animators. This course offers traditional and contemporary forms of making cartoons. Children who are interested in cartooning techniques such as character design, comic strips, and storytelling learn hands-on drawing techniques. Project themes are student centered, giving the children a sense of control over what they learn and resources to create unique works of art. But wait! The learning doesn’t stop there. Students also study essential components of advanced animation. These include stop motion, photography and cel development, as used by Disney animators. Maximum 12 students per class.

CLAY KIDS – (Ages 3-4)

Time to get those hands moving and imagination flowing! Discover the magical qualities of clay in this early childhood ceramics class. Children develop spatial awareness and fine motor skills. Students stimulate their imagination as they discover how to express their own ideas through 3-D art. Supplies are included in tuition. Parents are welcome to stay and assist their children. It’s all part of the magic. Maximum 12 students per class.

SPIRIT OF CLAY – (All levels)

Express your creativity by way of clay! In this class, students learn to create their own pieces of art. In an immersive environment, students learn pinch, slab, and coil construction methods as well as the use of molds. They decorate works with treatments that include stamps, stencils and silkscreen. They also learn how to give their pieces the finishing touch with glazing techniques. Sculptural, decorative, and functional possibilities in clay are explored through brief demonstrations, class discussions, and individual consultations.  Maximum 8 students per class.

PRIMARY TAP/BALLET – (Ages 3-5)

Get your little one moving with this dance combination class! In a fun and encouraging atmosphere, students make some noise with their brand new tap shoes and learn the basics of ballet. Dancers explore creative movement and body awareness while working on flexibility and balance. In this focused and encouraging atmosphere, your dancer is introduced to basic Ballet technique. Students exercise simple skills to improve coordination and flexibility. In this 60-minute class, students develop their musicality and memorization skills each week, building a dancer’s foundation. Dress: Pink leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers. Hair must be in a bun. Boys attire will be determined by the instructor and communicated after the first day of class. BEGINNER BALLET (Ages 5+)

Get ready, Ballet dancers! This introductory class is for students who would like to study ballet in a formal ballet atmosphere. In this 60-minute class, students learn the basics of ballet technique. They exercise simple skills to improve posture, grace, coordination and flexibility, as well as develop their musicality and memorization skills. Dress: Students must wear a pink leotard with pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Hair must be in a bun. No tutus or skirts. Boys attire will be determined by the instructor and communicated after the first day of class. For the first day, they should wear fitted clothing like shorts or lightweight straight-leg sweatpants, and a fitted t-shirt. Sneakers or ballet slippers are acceptable footwear for the first day.  Maximum 12 students per class.

Building on the foundation students learned from their previous ballet experience, this class focuses on advanced technique, posture, proper alignment, terminology, spatial orientation, and expressive response to music as well as flexibility. Dress: Black leotard, pink tights, skirt, and pink ballet slippers. Hair must be pulled back in a bun. Boys attire will be determined by the instructor and communicated after the first day of class. POINTE – (Ages 11+)

POINTE A (Ages 11+) – Instructor evaluation required

Ready to get on the box? This hour long class is for students who have a drive for Ballet dance. Pre-requisite: Students must be enrolled in, or have completed Ballet 5. Being a dancer on toe requires great leg and foot strength. In this class, students learn how to warm up and protect their feet. They master techniques to balance and be able to dance in pointe shoes. All dancers must be evaluated by their ballet teacher to determine if they are physically ready to meet the demands of pointe work. Dancers must bring their pointe shoes and accessories unsewn to the first day of pointe class to be checked by their teacher.  Dress: Black leotard with pink tights and black ballet skirt. Hair must be pulled back in a bun. Note: Choosing the correct pointe shoe is extremely important. Purchase dance shoes from a reputable dance shop to ensure proper fit. Maximum 12 students per class.

POINTE B (Ages 13+) – Instructor evaluation required

Ready to take your Pointe to the next level? This 45-minute class is for students who have a drive for Ballet dance. Pre-requisite: Students must be enrolled in, or have completed Ballet 5. Being a dancer on toe requires great leg and foot strength. In this class, students learn how to warm up and protect their feet. They master techniques to balance and dance in pointe shoes. Ever wanted to do the fancy tricks and splits? In this progressive class, students learn the fundamental building blocks to gymnastics technique. Focus is centered on learning forward/backward rolls, cartwheels, round-offs, handstands, walkovers and much more. Your acrobat leaves each day feeling stronger and more flexible than when they walked in the door. Space is limited for this class. Dress: Black Leotard and black shorts or leggings. No shoes. Hair pulled back. Boys attire will be determined by the instructor and communicated after the first day of class. Let’s dance it out! Pre-requisite: At least One year of Ballet. At least One year of Jazz. Students improve their techniques and performance skills through choreography. Flexibility, strength, various skills, expressions, and self-awareness will be worked on in this class. Students establish confidence and express themselves through choreography, as well as through improvisational work. This class emphasizes the physical and musical aspects of Contemporary Dance. Dress: Leotard & tights or leggings. Hair must be pulled back neatly, out of the dancers’ faces. BROADWAY BOUND PRESENTS: THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. – (All Ages)

This semester, we’re going under the sea with THE LITTLE MERMAID! Ever dream of being a professional actor? This class teaches elementary acting, singing, and dancing. Students learn acting techniques, and how to be a triple threat. Through classes full of excitement, students focus on memorization, motor skills, stage presence, blocking, choreography, scene work, and more. At the end of the semester, students showcase their talents in our special scripted performance of The Little Mermaid Jr! Join us for the show. The performance is December 19 from 6:00 7:00pm. Tuition includes two tickets to the performance.

CHESS: BEGINNER TO ADVANCED – (Ages 6+)

Interested in the notoriously famous Royal Game? This course is taught in-person by chess expert Jack Niculescu, who is ranked in the top 3% of all US chess players. These interactive classes cover an introduction to Chess, including rules and strategies, to Intermediate and Advanced Chess Level II classes. It is a great way for students to learn and play the game everyone is talking about. No previous knowledge of chess required, just a strong desire to learn. Maximum 8 students per class.
