ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

MEGAN CLANCY who began dancing and performing at age 3, comes from a professional performing family. She attended the Professional Performing Arts High School, Manhattan and studied Dance, Theatre Arts at City College of New York; Musical Theatre, Dance and Vocal at the Professional Performing Arts School; Vocal and Dance at the Harlem School of the Arts; Hip Hop, Jazz, Ballet and Musical Theatre at the Broadway Dance Center. Megan has worked with The Harlem Repertory Theatre and has taught Ballet, Jazz and Modern Dance at the 92nd street Y; Harkness Dance Center; and the Israel Center for Conservative Judaism. She is the Co-Choreographer for The City College of New York productions. In addition to bringing joy and confidence to her dance students at Gold Coast Arts Center’s School for the Arts, she is also a teaching artist working with its Out Reach/Art Reach program, teaching Musical Theatre. Since 2018 she is heading a very successful COMPETITION DANCE DIVISION.

LAURA PORCELLI has been dancing since the age of 9, studying Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip hop, and Latin Dance. Laura taught at the University of Dayton’s student-run dance organization, ‘Life Itself Dance’. In 2015 she reinstated the club’s tap classes and in 2016 she taught Ballroom dance. She also led several Latin dance workshops through the University’s Multicultural Office. Her love of performance has branched into musical theatre, as she was a part of a theatre troupe for the last 5 years that performed charity shows for Equitas Health. She was an active member in the troupe as well as being involved in the production team. She served as Director for the troupe’s 10 year Anniversary show. Laura has taught ages 3-23 and believes it is never too late to start, as long as you have fun anyone can learn to dance.

DENISE HOLZ has a Masters from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Graphic Design from Adelphi University. Denise has taught for the last 7 years at Garden City High School, teaching Studio Art I, Darkroom Photography I, and Media Arts I & 2. Prior to Garden City Denise worked for Nassau BOCES for 2 years teaching art in the alternative high school program and twilight program. Denise has experience teaching at the Gold Coast Arts Center for the last 10 years in our summer camp programs as well as cartooning and drawing classes for several of those years. Denise is highly proficient in digital media as well as fine arts & photography.
