CREATIVE CORNER – (Ages 3-4)

This class will introduce toddlers to a wide variety of art experiences in which the process is valued more than any finished products that might emerge. We will explore various mediums such as paint, watercolors, and clay. The materials used will heighten their senses, imagination, and creativity. (Parents welcome to stay and assist children.) It’s time for your little one to make art! This class is the perfect introduction for the young artist.  Children explore their own creativity while learning about famous artists throughout history.  Students are taught art basics such as understanding shapes and color as they incorporate lessons learned into their creations. DRAWING & PAINTING – Introduction – Advanced (Ages 6+ or instructor permission)

Bring your imagination to life! This class focuses on drawing and painting by observing the world around us and, more importantly, using our imaginations. Students use pencil, charcoal, pastels, and paint to create their works of art. Form, color, composition, and perspective are emphasized through stimulating and innovative projects. Advanced students have the ability to develop and complete projects over a 2-3 week period and be able to create conceptual art with guidance from teachers. Maximum 12 students per class.

CARTOONING – Ages 7-16 (All Levels)

Time to get “tooning!” Join us in learning the ways of the movie and program animators. This course offers traditional and contemporary forms of making cartoons. Children who are interested in cartooning techniques such as character design, comic strips, and storytelling learn hands-on drawing techniques. Project themes are student centered, giving the children a sense of control over what they learn and resources to create unique works of art. But wait! The learning doesn’t stop there. Students also study essential components of advanced animation. These include stop motion, photography and cel development, as used by Disney animators. Maximum 12 students per class.

INTRO/INTER TO SPIRIT OF CLAY – (Ages 7-9)

INTRO/INTER TO SPIRIT OF CLAY (Ages 7-9)

Express your creativity by way of clay! In this class, students learn to create their own pieces of art. In an immersive environment, students learn pinch, slab, and coil construction methods as well as the use of molds. They will decorate works with treatments that include stamps, stencils and silkscreen. They will also learn how to give their pieces the finishing touch with glazing techniques. Sculptural, decorative, and functional possibilities in clay are explored through brief demonstrations, class discussions, and individual consultations.  Maximum 8 students per class.

Get your little one moving with this combination dance class! In a fun and encouraging atmosphere, students make some noise with their brand new tap shoes and learn the basics of ballet. BEGINNER BALLET – (Ages 5+)

BEGINNER BALLET (Ages 5+)

Get ready, Ballet dancers! This introductory class is for students who would like to study ballet in a formal ballet atmosphere. In this 60-minute class, students learn the basics of ballet technique. They exercise simple skills to improve posture, grace, coordination and flexibility, as well as develop their musicality and memorization skills. Dress: Students must wear a pink leotard with pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Hair must be in a bun. No tutus or skirts. Boys attire will be determined by the instructor and communicated after the first day of class. Ever wanted to do the fancy tricks and splits? In this progressive class, students learn the fundamental building blocks to gymnastics technique. Focus is centered on learning forward/backward rolls, cartwheels, round-offs, handstands, walkovers and much more. Your acrobat leaves each day feeling stronger and more flexible than when they walked in the door. Space is limited for this class. Dress: Black Leotard and black shorts or leggings. No shoes. In this class students work on the fundamentals of dance which includes body placement, form, flexibility and coordination. Dancers also learn proper technique for a variety of turns and leaps and continue to build their skills. There is no costume for the recital. Dress: Black Leotard, tan/nude tights and shorts. Shoes: Nude jazz shoes, foot undeez, or turners. Hair pulled back. Boys attire will be determined by the instructor and communicated after the first day of class. For the first day, they should wear fitted clothing like shorts or lightweight straight-leg sweatpants, and a fitted t-shirt. Sneakers, jazz shoes, or ballet slippers are acceptable footwear for the first day.  Maximum 8 students per class.

CONTEMPORARY – (Ages 10+)

Let’s dance it out! Pre-requisite: At least One year of Ballet. At least One year of Jazz. Students improve their techniques and performance skills through choreography. Flexibility, strength, various skills, expressions, and self-awareness will be worked on in this class. Students establish confidence and express themselves through choreography, as well as through improvisational work. This class emphasizes the physical and musical aspects of Contemporary Dance. Dress: Leotard & tights or leggings. Hair must be pulled back neatly, out of the dancers’ faces. Boys attire will be determined by the instructor and communicated after the first day of class. Students improve on pirouettes, jumps, leaps and showmanship. Dress: Black leotard and black pants or tan/nude tights and nude jazz shoes. Hair must be pulled back. It’s time to get funky! Get your groove on and have a blast with classmates! In this class, dancers learn popular moves, and the fundamentals of Hip Hop. Dress: Comfortable but fitted. Dance leotards may be worn, as well as fitted T-Shirts/tank tops. Leggings, sweatpants, joggers, or shorts at an appropriate length are acceptable bottoms. Shoes: Black low-top sneakers that are only worn to class. Maximum 8 students per class.

LYRICAL – (Ages 8+)

Dance your heart out! Lyrical combines the technical elements of Classical Ballet with the freedom, fluidity and expressive aspects of Jazz and Modern dance. Dress: Black leotard, tan/nude tights and shorts or black pants. Shoes: Nude jazz shoes, foot undeez, or turners. Hair must be pulled back. Boys attire will be determined by the instructor and communicated after the first day of class. For the first day, they should wear fitted clothing like shorts or lightweight straight-leg sweatpants, and a fitted t-shirt. Sneakers or jazz shoes are acceptable footwear for the first day. Learning piano shouldn’t be painful; it should be fun! Lessons for young children are specifically designed to make the process of learning piano easy while having a blast doing it. Concepts introduced include rhythm, movement, reading, music notation and more. Students are taught to play a variety of popular and classical pieces and are encouraged to improvise. FUTURE IDOL – (Ages 10+)

Want to be a star or get a taste of fame? If you’ve ever wanted to be a singer you see in shows like American Idol, then this class is for you! Can’t sing? Musicians of all kinds are welcome. Bring your guitar, sax, or any instrument to create a magical performance.  Students learn the art of performing songs in various styles such as rock, R&B, folk, and country. The instructor helps the young artist’s confidence in his/her ability to perform while reinforcing proper vocal technique. Private voice lessons may be taken with this class. ACTING & MUSICAL THEATRE

BROADWAY BOUND PRESENTS: GREATEST SHOWTUNES – (Ages 7+)

Get those costumes ready! We’re giving you the chance to make your professional acting dreams come true. This class teaches elementary acting, singing, and dancing. Students learn acting and performance techniques. Not to mention, how to be a triple threat! Through classes full of excitement, students focus on memorization, motor skills, stage presence, blocking, choreography, scene work and more. At the end of the semester, students showcase their talents in our original scripted performance featuring songs from popular musicals such as Annie, The Lion King, Matilda, Wizard of Oz, and more! Join us for the show. The performance is May 21 from 6:00 – 7:00pm. Tuition includes two tickets to our special performance.

CHESS: BEGINNER TO ADVANCED – (Ages 6+)

Interested in the notoriously famous Royal Game? This course is taught in-person by chess expert Jack Niculescu, who is ranked in the top 3% of all US chess players. These interactive classes cover an introduction to Chess, including rules and strategies, to Intermediate and Advanced Chess Level II classes. It is a great way for students to learn and play the game everyone is talking about. No previous knowledge of chess required, just a strong desire to learn. Maximum 8 students per class.

We are here to guide you on your journey of this Martial Art. You learn protocol, safety, foundation footwork, attack, and parry-riposte. During sessions, you have the opportunity to fence your fellow classmates at your level. By registering for this course, you’re already on your way to mastering the art of fencing.
